Skillpoint Alliance hosted their 20th Anniversary Human Capital Honors luncheon on September 16, 2014 at the Gateway Motor Club. The Inaugural event congratulated those who have worked with Skillpoint Alliance to carry out its mission of sustaining industry-led workforce development solutions, while also recognizing the need to develop and provide more educational opportunities for the local community.

For over 20 years, Skillpoint Alliance has provided the City of Austin with connections to educational resources to help the community succeed in today’s competitive job market. Without the help of the community and contributing organizations, Skillpoint Alliance would not be able to serve the people of Central Texas. The recent Human Capital Honors Luncheon was an opportunity to thank those who have contributed to the success of our organization.

Awards and recognition were given to respected members of the community who have aided Skillpoint in expanding its mission. Honorees for the luncheon included:

  • Tina Johnson – Gateway Rapid Workforce Training Graduate
  • Tricia Berry – Director, Women in Engineering Program at The University of Texas at Austin
  • Applied Materials, Inc.
  • Workforce Solutions Capital Area

Bruce Todd was the recipient of the first Robert Rutishauser Pioneer Award.  His influence on improving school-to-work transitions during his time as mayor of Austin has been instrumental to the growth and expansion of Skillpoint Alliance for over twenty years.  “Bruce Todd has been a driving force in providing the community with important resources and opportunities to succeed. We are thrilled to honor our esteemed colleague with this award.” stated Margo Dover, Executive Director of Skillpoint Alliance.
