Game JAM – June 20th-22nd

2St. Edward’s University and Skillpoint Alliance will host a Game Jam sponsored by RTX 2014!

Date: June 20th-22nd 2014
Place: Ragsdale Center, St. Edward’s University

What is a Game Jam?

Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal. The weekend stirs a creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. Game Jams encourage people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this spread of game development and creativity.

RTX is an annual gaming and internet convention created by Rooster Teeth Productions in Austin, TX. Learn more here:

Who Can Attend?

Anyone with an interest in designing games can attend. All participants must be 18 years or older. You don’t necessarily need to have experience in designing a game before and you don’t need to have programming skills. In designing a game, various assets and skills are hugely important other than programming, such as: writing, art, sound, and game design. Teams need a mix of people with various backgrounds to truly succeed. Register now: Link coming soon!

What Should I Bring?

Participants must bring their own laptop if you need dedicated game software (e.g. Unity or UDK), you must rely on your own laptop. St. Edward’s University campus computers are only available for St. Edward’s students and generally have limited hours of availability.

Internet access and power will be provided at St. Edwards University.
