Workforce Solutions Capital Area celebrated their 5th Annual Awards Luncheon by recognizing businesses and individuals for their achievements in professional development.
Three of the five individual awardees to receive special recognition were graduates of the Gateway program at Skillpoint Alliance, which provides training and education for those in need, preparing individuals for entry-level employment in four to eight weeks.
The awardees were Felipe Salinas, Ian Lawler, and Abighail Villeda of Austin, Texas. “We are so proud of this year’s awardees for showing excellence in their field of work and resilience in their professional development,” said Margo Dover, Executive Director at Skillpoint Alliance.
The trainings in the Gateway program differ every year in response to the fluctuations in the local job market. Since its first class in 1994 to train the construction workers needed when the City of Austin converted Bergstrom Air Force Base into the airport it is today, Gateway has evolved to offer nine training disciplines in 2013, all while maintaining unmatched results for the industry.
The goal of the annual Workforce Solutions Capital Area Awards Luncheon is to celebrate the accomplishments of Travis County employers and community organizations that collaborate with Workforce Solutions throughout the year.
