Skillpoint is excited to announce that we have received a 2015-16 SXSW Community Fund Grant! SXSW Community Fund Grants recognize solutions to local community issues, especially when they can improve the lives of the underprivileged or disenfranchised, as they relate to one of the following events in the SXSW family: Music, Film, Interactive, SXSWedu and SXSW Eco.
The $10,000 grant with a focus on technology will go toward Skillpoint’s POWERUp Velocity Prep program, a high school internship program that was developed in response to industry and education leaders’ desire to see students gain hands-on work experience for high-demand science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in Central Texas. The awarded POWERUp program will focus on an energy solution for the Community First! Village, a 27-acre master planned community that will provide housing for the chronically homeless. Skillpoint will also have the opportunity to showcase its work at SXSW 2016.
SXSW has been a valued collaborator with Skillpoint, and we’re so grateful to partner with them on this upcoming project! To learn more about the SXSW Community Fund Grant and all this year’s recipients, check out SXSW’s blog.
