Midland, Texas—Skillpoint Alliance Permian Basin, a 501(c)3 workforce development organization based in West Texas that provides in-demand workforce training to vulnerable members of the community, announced today it has appointed Maria Luna Delgadillo as the site director for Skillpoint Alliance’s Permian Basin program.
Skillpoint Alliance expanded into West Texas in 2022, establishing classes in Midland, Odessa and Pecos. Most recently, the organization expanded its pre-apprentice electrical program to Carlsbad, New Mexico. The expansion into the Permian Basin was made possible with support from the Permian Strategic Partnership. The PSP was created to strengthen and improve the quality of life for Permian Basin residents by partnering with federal, state, and local leaders to develop and implement strategic plans that foster superior schools, safer roads, quality healthcare, affordable housing and a trained workforce.
“The Permian Basin is experiencing exponential growth within the skilled-trade industries, and with that growth comes the need for trained workers,” Kevin Brackmeyer, CEO of Skillpoint Alliance, said. “We believe that Delgadillo’s experience as the student success coordinator has prepared her to take on the role of site director. She has shown tremendous dedication to the organization and our students, and we know that she will continue to expand our program and further our mission of helping individuals attain meaningful careers while also creating a talent pipeline that meets the needs of local employers.”
In her previous role as Skillpoint Alliance’s student success coordinator, Delgadillo was responsible for navigating the many challenges that often keep students from enrolling and staying in school, ranging from academic preparedness to financial stressors to mental health concerns. She was also responsible for providing industry-specific professional development training to program participants, including resume-writing, interview preparation and soft skills coaching, and conducting outreach and follow-up communication for 180 days after graduation to determine graduate employment status.
As site director, Delgadillo is responsible for overseeing the expansion of Skillpoint Alliance’s workforce development operations into the Permian Basin region of Texas and New Mexico. The Permian Basin site director is responsible for broad oversight to ensure that Skillpoint Alliance Permian Basin programs are providing the training needed for employees entering the region’s workforce.
Delgadillo graduated with her bachelor’s degree in international relations from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
