Hard Hatted Women Initiative

Austin, Texas (March 5, 2018) – Recent studies show that approximately 8% of jobs in the construction industry are held by women. More so, these positions are in office management and not on the actual job site. For that reason, Skillpoint Alliance launched the Hard Hatted Women campaign to engage the Central Texas community in training and hiring more women in the Electrical, HVAC, Pipefitting & Plumbing, and Carpentry industries.

In celebration of Women in Construction Week (March 4-10th), Skillpoint Alliance will begin the social campaign alongside the national event to generate attention to the Gateway program for potential applicants and established partners.

Skillpoint Alliance invite the community to engage with the Hard Hatted Women Initiative during W.I.C. Week 2018, through events in partnership with industry companies at our Waco and Austin offices. For more information, please visit https://www.facebook.com/SkillpointAlliance/events/.

Throughout the 2018 programming year, the social media accounts owned by Skillpoint Alliance will provide information, statistics and success stories pertaining to the Hard Hatted Women campaign. To follow along with this initiative and get involved, follow Skillpoint Alliance on:

“Skillpoint Alliance connects workforce industries with the Central Texas community,” says Kevin Brackmeyer, Executive Director of Skillpoint Alliance. “We are focused on helping individuals transform their lives through educational opportunities and prepare for a career that will lead to self-sufficiency.”
